Power has been restored to homes on the Melford Road in west Suffolk after a car crash felled power cables this morning.


The A131 Melford Road was closed in both directions for much of today as UK Power Networks repaired the fallen power line.

A spokesamn for the company said: “UK Power Networks engineers restored power to the final few customers affected in the Melford Road area of Sudbury at 3.04pm today, after finishing the repair of overhead power lines damaged by a road traffic accident.

“Power was interrupted at 6.32am to 1,385 customers but the majority of these were back on supply by 7.45am.”
