Rail passengers faced disruption on main line services this evening after a person was hit by a train.

Greater Anglia trains travelling between Liverpool Street and Norwich were disrupted following the incident at Forest Gate.

The line was reopened at 4.25pm but Abellio Greater Anglia said there would continue to be some delays, revisions and cancellations into the evening.

  • Actually, all railways have legally had to be fenced since 1845! But, despite the railways' best effort, there is nothing to stop someone climbing over the fence, cutting a hole in it, jumping off a station platform, or using a pedestrian crossing (though these are being rapidly reduced following a spate of accidents).

  • We recently had our local MPs calling for fences on the Orwell Bridge. As this is the second incident this week, why are the MPs not asking for fences along the railway lines? If the Orwell Bridge is fenced then these incidents will increase.

A Witham man who campaigned for weapons awareness after his son was stabbed has died from a reported heart-attack.

Roads policing officers are appealing for information following a fatal collision on the B1125 (Dunwich Road) Blythburgh near to the junction with the B1387, which happened this morning, Tuesday 27 September.

Police were called at 8.56am today to reports of a single vehicle collision. Following the incident, a motorcyclist, a man in his fifties, has sadly died.

A 50 year-old man who died following a road traffic collision yesterday has been named as Stewart Mackenzie from Westleton.
