Tributes paid to “warm and generous” man who died after crashing into tree

Tributes have been paid to a “warm and generous” man who died after his car left the road and crashed into a tree.

The crash happened in the early hours of Saturday, October 6, on Loddon Road in Kirby Cane, near Loddon.

The man, aged in his 40s, had been travelling in a grey Peugeot 307 when the car left the road and hit a tree.

Fire crews from Loddon and Bungay were called to the crash and used hydraulic rescue equipment to get the man out of the car and into the care of the ambulance service.

He was taken to Norfolk and Norwich Hospital with life threatening injuries and died later the same day.

South Norfolk councillor Kay Mason-Billig, who represents the ward of Gillingham which covers the parish of Kirby Cane, has since paid tribute to the man who she said was a “personal friend”.

She said: “We heard about it earlier today, he was a really good man who will be sadly missed.

“He was a very warm and generous person. I have been with other friends who knew him and we are all deeply shocked.

She added: “My condolences go out to his family.

“We are all just very sad and just thinking about his family.”

The identity of the man has not yet been confirmed by police.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or the manner of driving before the collision.
