A woman in her 70s was taken to hospital after suffering a fall near a coastal nature reserve.
The East of England Ambulance Service and HM Coastguard rescue officers from Lowestoft and Southwold were called out following reports that the woman had fallen and suffered back injuries near the Benacre National Nature Reserve on the Suffolk coast.
The coastguard rescue teams attended the scene about 11am on Thursday, June 22 and assisted the ambulance service in stabilising the casualty before helping to transport her down a long track – which was inaccessible to vehicles – to the awaiting ambulance, which took the woman to the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston.
Coastguard rescue officers from Lowestoft and Southwold were also called out just after midnight last Thursday morning to assist police with a missing person search in the Kirkley to Lowestoft area.
But just as the team met up with police and commenced a search, the missing person was found safe and well.
