A man taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital by air ambulance this morning suffered multiple life threatening injuries in a serious two-vehicle crash.
The incident happened around 6.50am when a red Honda Civic was involved in a collision with a cement mixer.
The road was closed by police to allow the fire service to cut the male driver of the Honda, believed to be in his 20s, from the car.
A spokesman for the Suffolk Accident Rescue Service, who sent a volunteer doctor to the scene, said the man had multiple injuries.
A statement by Suffolk police added he sustained “leg, arm and head injuries” which “are thought to be life threatening”.
East of England Ambulance Service were in attendance and treated the man at the roadside with the SARS doctor before the East Anglian Air Ambulance flew him to Addenbrooke’s.
The road is still closed while the vehicles are recovered and police investigate the crash.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or the Honda beforehand is asked to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 101.
