A man in his 60s had to be cut out of his car after sustaining serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Norton.

The incident happened at 2.40pm on the A1088 and involved a gold Jeep and a silver Mercedes.

One person was able to get out of their vehicle unaided but the male driver of the Mercedes was trapped inside.

Fire crews were called to the scene to remove the car’s roof and once released the man was treated by a volunteer doctor from the Suffolk Accident Rescue Service and paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service.

He was then taken by land ambulance to the West Suffolk Hospital with serious injuries.

Both vehicles will require recovery and the road is currently closed in both directions.
