A motorist who was taken to hospital last night with life-threatening head injuries is in a critical but stable condition.

The driver of a black Vauxhall Astra, a local man in his late teens was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge after his car hit a lamp post on Springlands Way in Sudbury.

Police and fire crews from Sudbury and Long Melford were called the incident at around 11.45pm. No other vehicles or casualties were involved.

A force spokeswoman confirmed this afternoon that the man was still in a critical but stable condition.

Witnesses are asked to call Pc Allie Cotton at the serious collision investigation team at Suffolk Constabulary on 101 quoting CAD 460 of 9/4/14.
