A WOMAN has been taken to hospital after her 4x4 spun and hit a tree.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the crash, involving a green Land Rover, in Ashfield Road, Norton, just before 3.40pm.
Crew from Bury, Ixworth and Elmswell were sent to the scene and found a woman trapped inside the vehicle before requesting back-up from Suffolk police.
A Suffolk police spokeswoman said: “We were called to reports that a vehicle had spun and hit a tree.”
Emergency medical charity, Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS), also attended the crash.
The volunteer SARS doctor, who lives locally, said the 48-year-old woman was trapped in her vehicle after crashing in icy conditions.
Firefighters spent more than an hour using hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof and side of the 4x4 to free the woman.
She was taken to West Suffolk Hospital by ambulance suffering leg and shoulder injuries.
