Police are investigating after a taxi driver was assaulted

An 80-year-old man from a village near Ipswich reported missing to police has been found.

Bernard James Shea, of Blueleighs Park Homes, Great Blakenham, was reported missing to police at around 7.15pm yesterday after he was last seen at the rear of the Wolsey Theatre in Civic Drive, Ipswich, around two hours earlier.

Police issued an appeal to trace him and a spokesman for the force today said he has been found “safe and well”.

She said: “A call from a member of the public came in as a result of seeing the appeal on Facebook and the man was subsequently located.

“Police would like to thank the public and media for their support.”

A forest fire near Kingfisher Lake

Crews were called just before 2pm to the fire near Kingfisher Lake, just off the B1107.

David Sims, 69, a firearms enquiry officer, is due to in court to answer three counts of possessing a firearm of length less than 30cm  prohibited weapon, possessing ammunition without a certificate and possession of a firearm without a certificate.

The man, who has dementia, was with a friend when he wandered off at around 2pm.
