FIREFIGHTERS have been called to deal with an unusual emergency at an Ipswich fast food restaurant - after a man became partially trapped in a straw dispenser.
The incident happened at 7.15pm last night at McDonalds in Hening Avenue, on the Ravenswood development.
According to a McDonalds spokesman, the man - who was with his children - attempted to remove straws from an opening at the rear of the dispenser which is commonly used by staff to refill it.
He became trapped, so firefighters were called and they had to dismantle the dispenser to release him.
The man was said to be embarrassed but unhurt.
One fire crew was sent from Ipswich and the male was freed within 20 minutes.

I am the one that got stuck and it really wasn't funny at all so stop laughing. I saw something shiny at the bottom so reached in. Before I knew it, I was stuck! Made 50p in the process though, thanks Mcdonalds.

R S-R, I think the theory has been modified since Darwin's day, in this era of fast food, to "survival of the fattest".

Darwin's theory - 'Survival of the fittest'. If you become trapped using a McDonald's straw dispenser, should you be allowed to have children?

Surley the person could have walked down to the fire station, or were the shop afraid the straw thing me bob on his hand would not be returned. You have not said if the person found the right coloured straw they were after.

Good opportunity to sue McDonald's for a million or so. I was hit in the arm once in McDonald's by a small boy blowing off his paper straw cover through the straw. Curse it, I should have sued for that, goodness knows what harm it did.

I'm not surprised. The guy must have put his whole arm in to get a straw out?

Talk about "Silly Suffolk"! At least it makes a change from children "trapped in bicycles" and other more usual forms of Suffolk entrapment.
