A man whose home was hit by a car this evening has described the moment of the vehicle’s impact.

The Hyundai Getz crashed into the property in Nock Gardens at about 10.15pm and the male driver of the car, thought to be in his 20s, was treated for slight injuries by paramedics.

Keith Eller, whose house was hit, said his partner called fire and ambulance while he spoke to the driver.

“We were sat in the front room watching TV, all we heard was a big bang and a flash of light.

“Part of the wall is coming down. We’re waiting for a structural engineer to come along and explain to us exactly what sort of damage had been caused.

“He (the driver) was fairly shaken up, obviously quite upset, but no major injuries which is the main thing.”

A police spokesman said the house was being inspected as it is believed it has become structurally unsafe.

  • 'Newsmaster Excalibur' I'm sorry are you not used to people having different opinions to you? I do not appreciate being personally attacked purely for having an opinion however in my experience, self righteous, angry people are usually sad lonely people so you have my sympathy!

  • I hope everyone involved is ok. We are four days into the new year and averaging 23 stories per day about someone being injured or property damaged by out of control vehicles. Doesn't look good for the next 361 days.

  • Oi newsmaster you testicle. Have you ever been to nock gardens? The layout of the road prevents you from going more than 15mph. The house in question is opposite a small close. Its probably more likely that the driver pressed the wrong peddle at the junction and had too small an opportunity tl correct the mistake. Its a shame you weren.t stood there with your speed camera

  • And yet again the circumstances aren't fully known but assumptions are made. There is nothing as yet to suggest the driver was driving aggressively or speeding yet they are already being condemned!! I hope all involved are ok and will reserve my judgement until I know the facts!

  • Yes Ian and yet another young driver. When will we start seeing some serious action taken against aggressive drivers. No doubt yet another aggressive tailgater speeder who thinks speed limits do not apply to them. Whenever I being up this issue it falls upon deaf ears time and time again by the powers that be. When will they listen because people are getting fed up with the driving manner of many on the roads today.
