Three men charged with abduction and involvement in multiple sex assaults on a 13-year-old girl over a week-long period appeared before Ipswich magistrates today.
Abdul Hammed, 46, of Wellington Street, Ipswich, is charged with two counts of rape against a girl under the age of 16. The allegations relate to July 10 and between July 6 and 12. He is also charged with child abduction between July 5 and 13.
Surin Uddin, 28, of St Matthew’s Row, London, is accused of two counts of rape against a girl under the age of 16 and one child abduction. All the allegations related to the period between July 5 and 13.
Hamza Ali, 38, of Chingford Road, London, is charged with sexual assault on July 13 and child abduction.
The sex assaults are said to have occurred at a house in Chevalier Street, Ipswich, after the girl was allegedly brought to Suffolk from London in a van.
A fourth man, Mohamed Sheikh, a 31-year-old of Seaton Point, London, is also accused of abducting the girl. During today’s hearing Sheikh pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of cannabis.
No pleas were entered on the abduction or sex assault charges.
The men’s cases were committed to Ipswich Crown Court, where they will appear on July 26.
They were told the window for their trial would be between December 3 and January 18 .
Unsuccessful bail applications were made on behalf of Uddin and Hammed.
All four men were remanded in custody until their preliminary hearing before the town’s crown court.
