All rail lines have re-opened after a person was hit by a train at Romford but delays are expected to remain until midnight.

Emergency services were called to Romford Station to reports of a person being hit by a train, which happened just after 4.15pm, and left all lines blocked.

All lines are now open and Romford Station re-opened at 6.15pm but disruption is expected on the network until midnight.

Mainline train services from Ipswich, Norwich and Colchester may terminate or start at Shenfield, or Colchester.

While customers for Norwich and Ipswich, may travel on services via Cambridge and onwards to Ipswich or Norwich.

A British Transport Police spokesman said officers were called along with colleagues from the Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service.

He added: “The man was pronounced dead at the scene. We are currently working to identify him, and officers will assist in the compilation of a report for the coroner.

“His death is being treated as non-suspicious.”

Train services running through the station may be cancelled, delayed by up to 15 minutes or revised at short notice.

A statement on the Abellio Greater Anglia website said: “We thank you for your patience and understanding whilst the incident is resolved.”
