The vehicle, which was loaded with milk and bread, toppled over on the A1120 in Dennington, near Framlingham, at just after 8.10am.

The road was closed in both directions at the Maypole Green junction until 12.10pm when the lorry was removed from the road, police said.

A Suffolk County Council spokesman said engineers had to wait until the vehicle was fully recovered before tackling the oil spill, which was cleared at around 1pm.

He added the lorry damaged a section of the road which will have to be worked on next week.

A Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said the male driver did not suffer any major injuries.
