Police in Norfolk and Suffolk are still working to try and locate his next of kin.

Suffolk police also confirmed that two men from Great Yarmouth have been reported as missing to Norfolk Police and enquiries are continuing to find them.

It is believed three men were on board the blue and white speedboat when it capsized yesterday afternoon. They are believed to have been on a fishing trip.

Searches have finished in Lowestoft today after coastguard teams carried out a beach search along the coast at low tide from Corton to Kessingland from 10.30am.

About 10 members of the Lowestoft and Southwold Coastguard Rescue Team are carrying out the search, with the aid of a lifeboat Gorleston and Great Yarmouth lifeboat.

There was some activity after an object was believed to have discovered by the Ness Point- but it turned out to be seaweed.

The search was called off at 1.30pm.

A Suffolk police spokesman said: “The man is believed to be from the Great Yarmouth area. Police in Norfolk and Suffolk are still working to try and locate his next-of-kin.

“Two men from the Great Yarmouth area have been reported as missing to Norfolk Police and enquiries are continuing to find them.”

As part of the investigation Suffolk police are examining the boat at an undisclosed location.

The sea search for the two missing men was called off at 12.40am this morning.

The coastguard, RNLI lifeboat crews, a police helicopter and an RAF search and rescue helicopter were called out at about 2pm yesterday after a man and an overturned boat were spotted in the sea near Ness Point.

The man’s body was pulled from the water by Lowestoft lifeboat but, despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at 3pm.

A major search and rescue operation was then launched after it was feared two further people had been on board the capsized boat and were still missing.

Humber Coastguard, which has been coordinating the operation, announced the search had been stood down at 7.15pm.

But the Lowestoft and Gorleston lifeboats and the RAF search and rescue helicopter were called back out at 8.30pm to resume the search amid fears two people were still missing.

The Lowestoft Coastguard was initially alerted to a person in the water and an overturned boat at Ness Point shortly before 2pm yesterday.

The Lowestoft RNLI lifeboat was called out and rescued the casualty from the water between the South Pier and the Claremont Pier.

The lifeboat crew administered first aid before transferring the man to the ambulance service.

Attempts were made to revive him but he was pronounced dead just after 3pm. His body was taken to the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston.
