Update: Signalling problems hit early morning commuter trains

07:43 16 April 2014

Archant

Trains through Ipswich have been cancelled and more will be delayed because of signalling problems.

Services are having to run at reduced speeds on some lines through the town’s station.

The 6.04am Ipswich to Felixstowe service and the return 6.36am Felixstowe to Ipswich train were the first to be cancelled completely.

Since then the 7.14am and 8.25am Ipswich-Felixstowe, and 7.47am and 8.54am Fexlistowe-Ipswich services have all fallen by the wayside.

Delays of up to 30 minutes and other cancellations at short notice are still possible.

It is thought the delays will continue until at least 10am.

Greater Anglia arranged for buses to replace services to Felixstowe and Lowestoft from 7.30am.

  • It's not actually just the Felixstowe line. I was at the station travelling to London on the 6.14. The 6am rattler to London was delayed as it couldn't get into the station from the Norwich end. I suspect it's a problem getting stuff into and out of platform 1, and they are trying to avoid it impacting platform 2 too much.

  • Strange how once again only the Felixstowe line is hit by problems?
