Two men who were tracked down with a police helicopter having fled the scene of a car crash in Great Bentley early yesterday morning are due to appear in court tomorrow.

The men had been arrested after the black Saab they were travelling in crashed on Plough Road in the village just before 1.30am on Saturday.

A search of the area involving the police helicopter located the two suspects on the A133 at Frating.

Tony Coppin, 20, of Thorrington Road, Great Bentley, has been charged with burglary, aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving, using a vehicle without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

Lee Ealden, 22, of Barn Hall Avenue, Colchester, was charged with aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving.

Both will appear at Colchester Magistrates Court on Monday.

The car the men were travelling in, had been reported stolen from a house in Bradford Drive, Colchester, during a burglary which took place between 7pm on December 27 and 1am the following morning.
