There has been a crash on the Layer Road in Abberton, near Colchester, this morning.

Police, fire crews and the ambulance service attended the scene of the one-vehicle collision which happened around 8am.

A red Hyundai i10 was in collision with two trees after apparently rolling off the road. Three people were believed to be inside the car when it crashed, one of them managed to get out.

Three fire crews were called to the one-vehicle collision at 8.03am and worked to release the other two women. Using specialist cutting equipment and airbags, the casualties were released by 9.16am.

Three ambulances, the Hazardous Area Response Team, a rapid response car and a paramedic officer from the East of England Ambulance Service were also called to the scene and treated the three casualties.

None of them are believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries and they have been taken to Colchester General Hospital.

The road remains closed whilst the car is recovered.
