Delays caused by a burst water main, temporary traffic lights and emergency repairs on the B1008 Broomfield Road in Chelmsford this morning are reported to have cleared.

Traffic was reportedly slow moving in both directions at the Seventh Avenue junction at 6am but had cleared by 7am.

A new road, which ran almost £5m over budget, faces fresh controversy after it emerged a council employee involved in the project also completed work for the road’s developers through his private company.
