Film star Florence has travelled from Rendlesham, near Woodbridge, to mix with
Hollywood A-listers such as Johnny Depp, Ewan McGregor and Gwynneth Paltrow.

And it is all in a day’s work for the 1966 Bristol 39-seater coach.

Florence, who is part of a fleet at Buckland Coaches, was driven down to the set of new film, Mortdecai, in Hackney.

Driver Tony Buckland, director of the coach company that he started in 1990, said: “She was used as part of the background, in a scene of a disused garage.”

Originally Mr Buckland thought his beloved coach was going to be used in a commercial - it was not until he arrived back in Hackney to take her home and saw press photographers and security that he realised the bus had been involved in a major production.

Florence had been used as part of the upcoming film Mortdecai, based the book anthology of the same name written by Kyril Bonfiglioli and starring among others Johnny Depp.

Mr Buckland said: “It will be interesting to see what they have done in it.” The film is about an art dealer, Charles Mortdecai, who searches for a stolen painting that is reportedly linked to a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold.

Florence is in good company, as among the fleet there is another star, a 1929 Dennis 29-seater bus called Ermintrude, who has featured on television, most notably the BBC production Dancing on the Edge.

Mr Buckland said that he got to see Johnny Depp’s stunt double get run over by a Rolls Royce, but he did not see the actor, who at one point had reportedly been looking to buy a home in Suffolk.

He added: “I was hoping to see him so I could give him a lift back!”
