Making a splash across a lake, teams of raft-builders competed to be crowned this year’s race winners.

The Needham Market Raft Race once again saw crowds of families and friends drawn to Needham Lake to watch the annual event.

Crafts of all manner of design and sturdiness took to the waters to fundraise for charity. Kevin Hunter, town clerk for Needham Market Town Council, said it was a “major weekend” for the town.

He said: “It definitely attracts people to the town and is very positive. There was glorious weather which could not have been better for the event.

“The organisers do a terrific job, no doubt about it. We also had the craft fayre over two days and both events, as I understand it, were very well supported.”

As well as the raft teams fundraising for their own causes, the event’s organisers also make a contribution to local charities.
