A MAN in his 20s is in hospital with serious head injuries after a car crashed into a house in Lowestoft.

The driver of an Audi TT collided with a house in Carlton Colville in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services were called to Long Meadow Walk at about 1.45am, following reports of a collision involving one car that had gone into a house.

Fire crews from Lowestoft South station and paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service attended the scene, with firefighters arriving at the property by 1.52am. On arrival they found one person trapped with a possible gas leak from the house.

The road was closed while the trapped male motorist was freed from the wreckage and put in the care of the ambulance service.

A police spokesman said he was then taken to James Paget University Hospital, in Gorleston, with serious head injuries but has since been transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital where he remains this morning.

Fire crews remained at the scene to make the scene safe. Structural engineers have also been called to attend the property but no-one inside the house was injured.

The road has since been reopened, and police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident or the Audi driving prior to the collision to call the Serious Collisions Investigation Team on 101.

  • I just hope the driver is doing ok. The pictures look horrifying. I'm glad the occupants of the house were not in that room as the incident happened. I wish all involved all the best best for the future.
