Businesses in the Food Hall are hoping for good trade during day one of the Suffolk Show.

Stefan Overbury, of The Chocolate Fondue Company, say they are looking to recover after making a loss at the 2014 Devon County Show after the third and final day was cancelled due to safety concerns.

“This is our 10th year here and it is one of the last good show across the country,” he said.

“Some have gone a bit rough but it is always well organised here.

“We made a loss last week when the Devon Show was cancelled so we hope to do well. We have quite a good following and when the conditions are right we do well.”

Richard Adams, of The Cheese & Pie Man, set up his stall yesterday and arrived with his staff at 6.30am today.

“We have been coming for five or six years and it is always a good place to showcase our products and a really good place to meet people we do business with during the year,” he said.

“It is just nice to see everyone come together and build up a good atmosphere.”

Friendly faces are needed to greet visitors to Ipswich this summer and ensure the interactive Pigs Gone Wild trail is a success.

All four emergency services were called to a drama on Clacton Pier on Friday afternoon when someone was seen sitting on the wrong side of the fence.

The site earmarked for 175 homes in Stowupland.

The approval of 175 homes on the edge of a Suffolk village has prompted fears that planning shortfalls highlighted in the decision could leave more communities at risk from “predatory” applications.
