POLICE have created a film to help reduce the number of burglaries committed.

Officers are urging residents to take simple steps to secure their homes and help prevent burglaries.

As part of Operation Drawbridge, launched in October, a short film has been produced, highlighting these steps.

Chief Inspector Jenny Powell said: “We want people to be aware of the very easy ways that they can deter these criminals from trying to enter their homes.

“The number of burglaries we see being committed across the county traditionally increases in the winter months, and we hope that by raising awareness of ways in which you can protect your house, we can bring this number down.
