Walberswick in Suffolk ranked in the top 20 best places to live by the sea in Britain

The Sunday Times has unveiled its list of the 20 best places to live by the Sea in Britain, with one in Suffolk making the grade.

Walberswick has been ranked number 13 of the best coastal hotspots in Great Britain, as part of a five-day series listing the best places to live in the UK.

The village has been home to the Freud family since the 1930s – currently Richard Curtis and Emma Freud, and Esther Freud and David Morrissey next door.

The article said: “Just across from the River Blyth from arty Southwold, Walberswick has become a popular weekend retreat for coastal rambles and mucking about in boats.”

A three-bedroom weather-boarded cottage overlooking the green in Walberswick would set you back around £925,000.

Blakeney in Norfolk was ranked number 14 with its endless mudflats and marsh walks under a big sky.

It is described as “one of the many unsullied spots on the north Norfolk coast”.
