Emergency services received reports of a man “acting strangely” on the Essex coast.

People in Walton on the Naze reported seeing a fully clothed man walking out to sea from the beach at about 4.50pm today.

An Essex Police spokesman said the Coastguard was asked to attend, however the man had been assisted from the water by a “third party” before its officers arrived.
