Rescue teams were called yesterday afternoon after it was reported that a dog had been swept out to sea near Walton Pier

A member of the public informed Thames Coastguard about the incident, with the Walton Coastguard Rescue Team and Walton RNLI Lifeboat sent to check the welfare of both the dog and the owner.

The dog then swam ashore and was said to be safe and well.
