AFTER the wettest year since records began, at least New Year’s Eve is expected to stay dry.

Those out on the town tonight can leave their umbrellas at home because the rain which is forecast for today will have cleared.

And tomorrow we’re set to welcome 2013 with sunny spells.

Steve Western, from Weatherquest, said: “Today is set to be cloudy with some outbreaks of rain during the day.

“The rain will then clear away and it will become mostly dry with clear spells throughout the evening.

“The first day of the New Year will be a nice day – dry and bright with some sunshine.”

We reported this week how 2012 had been the wettest year since records began.
