The drama unfolded at an address in Clacton Road, Weeley Heath, around 7.40pm last night.

It is believed that someone drove up to the property and threw a container of petrol.

No damage was caused but police would like anyone with information to get in touch.

The home owner is unaware of any reason why his property was targeted.

Investigating officer Dc Phil Parrish said: “This occurred around 7.40pm and the suspect’s car headed off towards Little Clacton.

“We urgently need to speak to the drivers of two cars who may remember overtaking a car that had pulled over to the nearside and parked up on the pavement.

“These drivers overtook the car and then continued on their journey.

“This part of the road has double white lines and stopping is prohibited so may have drawn attention to the other road users.”
