Two dogs have been stolen in the west of the county over the weekend.

The first theft took place at around 12noon on Saturday in Horsecroft Road, Bury St Edmunds, where a miniature schnauzer was taken from the back garden. A woman, accompanied by a teenage girl, was seen to walk it away on a lead.

The dog was later found near to Asda car park in Western Way and has been returned to the owners.

Later the same day, between 6.40pm and 7pm, at an address in Church Lane, Exning, a black and white poodle cross puppy was stolen from a garden. Two iron bars had been removed from the top of a brick wall providing a gap big enough to lift the dog through.

This dog has since been found in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire.

The two people seen at the address in Bury St Edmunds are described as follows: a woman aged in her mid-30s, around 5ft 5in tall, with dark brown/black shoulder length hair, wearing a blue polo shirt with white writing on the back and dark blue jeans; accompanied by a girl, aged between 13 and 14-years-old, around 5ft tall, with blonde shoulder length hair, and wearing a pink t-shirt/dress.

Anyone with information about either of these thefts is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference BU/14/2081 in respect of the Bury theft or NE/14/1243 in relation to the Exning crime.
