Three people were treated for the effects of smoke inhalation after a fire in a third floor flat in West Mersea.

Firefighters from West Mersea and Colchester were called to the blaze at Shears Court on Shears Crescent at just after 7.30pm on Saturday., West Mersea

Crews are wore breathing apparatus and are used one hose reel to tackle the blaze, which was extinguished by 9pm.

Firefighters administered oxygen to two women and a man - all suffering the effects of smoke inhalation and they were were later placed in the care of the Ambulance Service.
