The A14 was congested in both directions due to an accident near Jimmy's Farm in Wherstead.

A man remains in a life threatening critical condition following a collision in Wherstead.

The incident happened at about 4.30pm on Tuesday on the A137 between Jimmy’s Farm and the A14.

The incident involved a Ford Fiesta and a VW Caddy van.

The 24-year-old man in the Fiesta was airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

The second man, 25, who was driving the VW, was taken to Ipswich Hospital with spinal injuries and bruising – his injuries are not thought to be life threatening. Police are appealing for anyone with information, or who saw either of the vehicles in the moments before the crash, to call 101.
