Wilby Primary School had been working to raise the profile of the arts for staff, parents and pupils alike, reflected in its application for the Gold level Artsmark – which is awarded by Arts Council England.

Headteacher Roisin Wiseman said: “Artsmark has enabled us to provide exciting high quality learning opportunities for our children which sit firmly at the centre of everything we do.

“They bring cohesion to learning experiences from across the curriculum, enabling children to make sense of their experiences and to express how they feel about them.”

Pupils Maryellen and Jerome from Year 6 added: “We are encouraged to be creative and express ourselves freely – no one is wrong. This gives us confidence and makes school so much more fun – it makes us want to be here.”
