Police are appealing for information following a robbery at Ladbrokes in Witham.

A man entered the betting shop in Newland Street at around 3.50pm on Saturday, April 12, and handed a note over to the cashier demanding money.

No money was handed over and the man left empty handed. He is thought to have made off in the direction of Lockram Lane.

The man is described as wearing a black tracksuit with a hooded top, dark woolly hat, had a goatee beard, was about 5ft 8ins tall and slim.

An area search was conducted, including the use of the helicopter, but as yet no one has been arrested.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Braintree CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
