A woman has been assaulted by a man in the street in Witham.
The 19-year-old woman was walking out of the alleyway at Hatfield Road on September 3 from 8.35am to 8.40am when an unknown man was walking in.
They met in the middle and when the victim tried to get around him, he pushed her to the chest with both hands causing her to go backwards and into the road and then raised his fist as if he was going to hit her.
He is described as white, mid 30s, about 5ft 10ins tall, wearing work overalls and with a black and red rucksack over his shoulder. He had dark hair pulled back in a ponytail and was described as looking grubby.
Police have spoken to a witness but they were unable to identify the man.
Pc Kim Jones said: “There were other people in the street at the time and I am trying to find other witnesses to help identify this man or anyone who knows who he is from the description.”
Anyone who can help is asked to contact Pc Jones at Braintree police station on 101.
