Senior golfers at a club in Suffolk have celebrated a successful year of fundraising to help save the lives of deprived children around the world.
The Fynn Valley Valiants – a team of about 40 golfers aged 55 and over – recently presented the £847 they raised at events throughout 2013 to Save the Children.
Last year’s team captain, Andy Miller, who chose the charity in recognition of its “fantastic work” said it was “very pleasing” to have raised such a sum.
“My wife and I have been donating to Save the Children for some time and I am a retired teacher so it seemed appropriate,” he added.
“They do work all over the world including the UK in areas where it’s needed the most.”
The Valiants meet at Fynn Valley Golf Club in Witnesham near Ipswich about twice a week.
They hold regular collections and fund-raisers from which the proceeds go towards the captain’s chosen charity for the year.
