FIREFIGHTERS have tackled a serious house fire in Wivenhoe.

Crews were called after smoke was seen coming from the window of a detached house in Beech Avenue at around 10.15pm.

When they arrived, they discovered the whole house was smoke-logged, but everyone had been accounted for and there were no casualties.

It was brought under control within 45 minutes.
