A teenage boy has been arrested in connection with the rape of a girl near Wivenhoe.

The victim had been walking back from an end of school beach party when she was allegedly raped near a footpath between Arlseford and Wivenhoe.

Detectives arrested a boy, who lives locally, on suspicion of rape this morning.

He is currently being interviewed by detectives from the Essex Police Sexual Offences Investigation Team.
