A couple from Woodbridge managed to deter a knife-wielding burglar who barged into their property last night.

They were at the Bilney Road property when there was a knock at the door at around 11pm.

The woman, in her 20s, went to open the door and a man barged his way into the property, brandishing a knife.

Along with her partner, she managed to get the offender out of the house. He then made off in an unknown direction.

The offender is described as a white male, in his late teens to 20s, around 6ft tall, with light coloured eyes and fair eyebrows, possibly with a London accent. He was wearing a waterproof jacket a shade lighter than navy blue with patches of bright blue, and a cream coloured scarf partially over his face.

Police are keen to trace three males who were seen standing outside the property at the time. All three are described as wearing dark sports-style clothing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Suffolk Coastal CID on 101, quoting reference WO/14/841, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

  • My messages never get past the moderator but I was wondering why you had illustrated this story with a picture of Melton?
