A quilting club in east Suffolk has celebrated its “best show ever” after more than 1,000 visitors attended in support of two local charities.

The Cotton Club Quilters’ three-day exhibition at Woodbridge Community Hall over the weekend is hoped to have raised more than £3,000 for Suffolk Family Carers and the East Anglian Children’s Hospices after record numbers turned out in support.

Committee member Jo McArdle said: “We think we’ve had the best show ever and we are so delighted with how it went. It feels as though we’ve really achieved something and worked as a group to help two great causes.”

The exhibition featured around 60 displays of patchwork produced in an assortment of techniques, patterns and styles, with further displays of bags, cushions and other handcrafted items.

Mrs McArdle said that some of the works on show represented years of hard work by the group’s members who had worked individually and in collaboration to produce the exhibition.

The Cotton Club Quilters was formed in 1993 and holds weekly meetings in Charsfield and Bedfield village halls.

The exhibition takes place every two years.
