A new music and arts festival enjoyed its inaugural outing this weekend – and by all accounts it could not have gone better.

Organisers are hopeful the Woodbridge Music and Arts event will make an assured return to next year.

Bands, solo artist and DJs performed at venues across the town, including Elmhurst Park, Market Hill and the community hall.

The line-up featured Mercury Prize nominated five-piece Polar Bear, jazz-funk act Red Snapper, late 1980s Glastonbury headliners The Woodentops and London-based rapper Ty, who even delayed his train home to enjoy some more of the event.

Ben Osborne, event organiser and founder of music and art collective Noise of Art, said: “The whole town has been really busy and will hopefully benefit from the event. Participating pubs were packed and I think it could be the start of something really great.

“There was an automatic assumption among people that this was the first year of the event and that it would happen again. We’re already planning for next year.”
