Worlingham: Family thought missing dogs had been run over - only to find out they were muntjac deer

A family from Worlingham who were told that their missing dogs had been run over have had their hope of finding one of them restored.

Zara Semper’s two border terriers Georgie and Pup escaped from her garden in Lowestoft Road on December 17 and were thought to have been found three days later on the A146 near Morrisons in Beccles, having been run over.

However ten days later on December 30, after spending Christmas missing their dogs, Mrs Semper received a phone call from the vets in Beccles to say someone had brought in the oldest of her dogs six-year-old Georgie, who had been run over 70 yards from their house.

It was then that Mrs Semper found out that the two dogs thought to be hers found on the A146 earlier in the month, were actually two muntjac deers.

Mrs Semper said: “We were gobsmacked.

“I told the lady at the vets it can’t be my dog she has already been found, but it definitely was her because she is microchipped.

“When I called Waveney District Council to ask about the incident on the A146 they told me it had been two muntjacs that were killed not two dogs. I couldn’t believe it.

“Now we are hoping we might find our other dog Pup. It’s just awful not knowing where she is.”

Pup is Mrs Semper’s five-year-old daughter Ava’s dog. Pup is four-years-old, has a black and tan scruffy coat and a white bib. She is also microchipped.

Anyone with any information about Pup is asked to call Mrs Semper on 01502 476261.
