ENGLAND cricket captain Alastair Cook is due to receive an honorary degree from the University of Essex.
The Essex-born batsman became the national side’s leading Test century-maker in December after making a hundred against India.
The University announced it would be awarding Cook his honorary degree at a special ceremony at their Colchester Campus on April 10.
University of Essex Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Jules Pretty said: “Alastair Cook has become one of Essex and England’s finest cricketers and this is a welcome opportunity to acknowledge his contribution to both the sport and the county.”
