Kevin Foley was disappointed that Ipswich Town were beaten by two identical goals in their 2-1 loss to Bristol City.

Twice Luke Freeman swung dangerous corners in to the Ipswich area and twice Aden Flint beat his man to head home in the first half and, while Brett Pitman was able to grab one back in the second half, the visitors weren’t able to force an equaliser.

Foley admitted the manner in which Town conceded the two goals frustrated a team which prides themselves on defending set pieces, and that it ultimately never really looked like being his side’s day.

“It’s disappointing, especially in the first half to go down to two identical goals,” he said.

“We pride ourselves on set pieces so we were disappointed. We got ourselves back into the game and we could have got something at the end, but it wasn’t meant to be.

“He (Freeman) swings them in like a shot on goal and it was all about the delivery, it was just one of those days.

“Brett’s fantastic in front of goal, he’s so calm and he slotted it home nicely there, but we had our chances at the end and couldn’t take them.

“It just wasn’t our day.”

Foley started the game at right wing-back before switching to the centre of midfield after Flint’s first goal, where he felt more comfortable.

He said: “I preferred it in the middle because I got a bit more of a foothold in the game and I managed to get on the ball a bit more.

“We always knew we had the ability to change it, so that wasn’t an issue, and the goals didn’t come from our shape as it was just the set pieces.

“Second half I think we went a little more direct and we caused problems, getting the goal out of it, but it just didn’t happen at the end.”
