A championship-leading race car driver returned as guest of honour to the Suffolk school that supported him during his early career in motor sport.
Josh Webster, 20, of Stowmarket, who is currently leading the Porsche Carrera GB Championship, said it was “fantastic to be back” at Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham today as he presented the awards for sports day.
“The school was massively supportive of my career, especially in the early karting days,” he said. “If they had not allowed me the time off it could have been a completely different story for me, so it’s nice to be here today to give something back.”
Mr Webster thanked the school for inviting him and congratulated the students for “getting stuck in” during the athletic events.
Deputy head of PE, Judy Kemp, who is retiring after 30 years’ service, presented Mr Webster with a Thomas Mills paperweight for attending.
