Colchester United boss, Tony Humes, described the second-half strikes by Rhys Healey and Freddie Sears as “fantastic goals,” following tonight’s comeback 2-1 win over Chesterfield at a chilly Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Substitute Healey raced through to notch a 50th minute equaliser, before Sears turned to lash home a spectacular winner from just outside the box on 86 minutes.

These goals cancelled out Sam Clucas’ opening goal, scored after just 61 seconds.

“I’m delighted to win the game after such a good comeback,” enthused Humes.

“They were two fantastic goals from us to win the game.

“We never really got going in the first half. We were not as controlled as we have been of late. We didn’t move the ball quickly enough.

“But in the second half we brought on Rhys Healey - I’ll take credit for that!

“Rhys gave us something extra up front and left Freddie (Sears) with more space. We gave their centre-halves far more problems,” added Humes.

The U’s boss also confirmed that Frankie Kent, who had been stretchered off with a head injury early on – the centre-half suffered the injury in the build-up to Chesterfield’s opening goal, by taking a ball in the face from close-range - was feeling “fine” after the match
