Shrewsbury chief executive Brian Caldwell expects Toto Nsiala and Jon Nolan to be Ipswich players in 48 hours after the Blues met his club’s valuation of the duo.

Ipswich had bids, believed to be in the region of a combined £1.4million, rejected for the duo earlier this week, with Nsiala and Nolan subsequently handing in transfers requests, being barred from training and ultimately sitting out today’s game with Bradford.

Caldwell says Ipswich, managed by former Shrews boss Paul Hurst, have now ‘more or less’ met his side’s valuation of the duo and expects the move to be tied up soon. There are still details to be sorted regarded the sell-on clauses in the two deals.

“From the Nolan and Nsiala point of view, I’ll be honest, they have come back in and more or less met our valuation, I’ve stuck strong to that,” Caldwell told BBC Shropshire.

“I think I’ve made it clear that there was no compromising with my valuation. Where we’re at just now is that they’ve tried to put in a lower sell-on, which I’m not happy with because you just look at the players that we’re had and I think, to be fair to us as well, we want the valuation and we also want the sell-on at the right percentage.

“So that’s where it’s at just now, I would imagine that will probably bottom out over the next 48 hours and hopefully we can get a conclusion to it from everybody’s point of view.”

Another Town target, Curtis Tilt, was left out of the Blackpool side today as the Blues continue their efforts to land the central defender, while Kayden Jackson of Accrington Stanley played 82 minutes of his side’s 2-0 home loss to Gillingham.

The Blues retain serious interest in both players, though moves are not thought to have progressed as far as the deal for the Shrewsbury pair.

COMMENT: Stu says: Five observations after Ipswich Town start season with 2-2 home draw against Blackburn Rovers

Speaking after today’s 2-2 draw with Blackburn, Hurst said he is expecting a busy week in the lead up to Thursday’s transfer deadline.

“I could do with five minutes breather first!” quipped Hurst, when asked if he’d be straight on his phone to conduct transfer business. “I’m sure that there will be some messages and calls coming in.

“I think some are kind of edging more in our favour, but whether it’s the players, the clubs they are at or us – things can change. We could have a deal set up and then...

“Today there have been (targets) playing, which I don’t like, because there could have been an injuries. They might have got injured today. Hopefully not. Those are the things I’ll be trying to get updates on.”
