A fortuitous strike by Jordan Rhodes, on the hour mark, saw Ipswich Town go down to a narrow 1-0 defeat at Blackburn Rovers, on Saturday.

Rhodes’ effort ricocheted in off Town goalkeeper Stephen Henderson to give Rovers the three points in a poor game.

Town had few efforts at goal, Guirane N’Daw going closest with a last-minute volley that went just wide of Jake Kean’s right-hand post.

“Everyone has seen the spirit in our squad and that was the case again on Saturday. I was pretty pleased with the performance – we’ve just got to go again,” said manager, Mick McCarthy, after the game.
