IPSWICH Town have approached Kilmarnock keeper Cammy Bell over the possibility of a Bosman switch this summer, according to the Scottish club’s manager Kenny Shiels.
The 26-year-old – who stands at 6ft tall and is out of contract at the end of the season – has won one full Scottish cap.
Shiels said: “Ipswich Town are in for him and there other clubs that have made approaches from England. I’ll sit down with him in March and give him my advice.
“What is said will be personal but wherever he goes he will be first choice, that’s guaranteed.”
Dumfries-born Bell, who has also held talks with Rangers, has been at Rugby Park since 2002, having previously been a youth player with Queen of the South and Annan Athletic. He has also spent time back on loan with the Doonhamers and Montrose.
Players with less than six months left on their contracts are entitled to speak to other clubs and sign pre-contract agreements.
Town’s goalkeeping duties have been split this season between summer signing Scott Loach and West Ham United loanee Stephen Henderson, with Arran Lee-Barrett – now in the final year of his contract – once again finding his opportunities limited.

There are three key problems with this filler for deluded Offshore Investment FC 'supporters' to digest. Reading between the lines the approach will translate to ... 'come and be the next Cody Cropper, lee-barratt, scott loach etc and see an array of duds brought in to play instead of you.... even Tom might find that proposition unattractive. Secondly, other clubs are allegedly in for him - which automatically means he will go elsewhere (if true). Thirdly, approaching players who run down their contracts is ruinously expensive in the short term and the long term. Fees are exchnaged for ruinous wages and bonuses and other players at the club simply follow the example of team mates earning vastly more for doing the same (or less) than themselves.... and exit stage left for no fee.

Mike, they are sharing it with you. Every wonder why Scott and Steroo are always the first to get their comments in? Even in the bad old days when no-one was around in the office?

Well we all know what they say about Scottish goalkeepers, so yes he looks the ideal keeper for town in the 3rd division.
