The Blues were firmly entrenched in a relegation battle not so long ago following a return of just eight points from a possible 45. Now they are nearer the top six than the bottom three following four straight victories – the first time such a run has been achieved in over seven years.

“I think the supporters deserve a lot of credit,” said Jewell, after Lee Martin’s brace and Michael Chopra’s fifth goal in four games sealed another three points in front of a below average crowd of 17,032.

“We’ve put in some abject performances this season – at home especially – but they’ve stuck with us and you can feel the atmosphere coming back to Portman Road.

“You can feel that the fans appreciate the efforts of the players and I’ve got to tell you the staff and the players appreciate the effort of the supporters every bit as much. They’ve got us through a really, really difficult time.”

With the newly scintillating Blues now 11 points adrift of the play-off places with 45 still to play for, many are wondering if an incredible late promotion push can be mounted.

Certainly, it’s easy to reflect on a record of 21 points dropped from winning positions and think ‘what if’.

“There’s no point in looking back,” said Jewell. “It happened and we’ve got to learn from those experiences. “We’re now playing with confidence, belief and desire, but we also know we’ve got to keep our feet on the floor.

“We’re not giving up on this season and we’re not getting complacent either.”

  • If Murphy Martin Chopra Jet and Edwards continue in their present form, scoring goals right left and centre, why shouldn't we win every game till the end of the season? And two left footed centre backs didn't stop us from keeping a clean sheet against Cardiff, even if our goal keeper nearly did.

  • Rob Steroo - Keep banging on that little yellow chest in your attempts to get noticed. After all, it must be understood that what appears to be a season stay in the Premiership, has to be seen as a huge success for a club of Norwich’s historical achievements. Don’t forget to wear those eye shades though, after all those years of walking in the shadows, you budgie fans might get sore eyes. Enjoy it while it lasts Steroo, when it’s all over, you know, I think I’m going to miss you.

  • Good on you Rob. About time people earning average incomes in jobs where they daren't put a toe wrong or they'll get fired. Eight points out of 45 ?! And he still got paid a fortune ? Sorry but this unbelievable blindness to rewarding massive failure makes you wonder. We all want the team to do well, but Im sick of seeing 6 figure salaries paid to 3 figure performance. Make fans pay twice to see Middlesborough ? Sick joke. Why don't the millionaires who brought you that wonderful 845 points run show their "love" for us by treating us to a game out of there own huge undeserving pockets ? No ? Thought not. Yeah PJ we love you too - just do your job well whilst filling your boots is all us ordinary fans want.

  • What are your expectations as a fan for the remainder of this season? Certainly looking upwards rather than down. Impressive wins against 2 top four sides and many opportunities to gain more points this season. Getting to the playoffs would be great. Whether it happens or not it certainly gives us fans renewed hope and looking forward to each game with great expectation! COYB!

  • It is sobering to think that had Ipswich managed to show more composure at the back earlier in the season, we would now be within realistic distance of a play-off space. But however hard the likes of Rob Steroo try to dismiss the latest run of success with their sarcasm, four wins in such style is impressive. I hope the reliance on loanees declines and this period of optimism is used to get some stability at the club. I have developed too many grey hairs as a supporter. But at least - for now - things are looking better.

  • Town are obviously not going to win every game between now and the end of the season because that is what they would probably need to claim a play-off place. What is much more realistic is a postition in the top half of the table and they do have some winnable games coming up which might keep this run going a little longer. Certainly Michael Chopra has a good chance of making twenty league goals whcih would be great for him and Town and we can all put the first half of the season behind us and begin to look forward and not back anymore.

  • Why stop your ludicrous hype with promotion? IF Jewell can be persuaded not to buy the Portsmouth team, hire a rag tag army of mercenaries on loan and perhaps even stick with his FIFTH choice goalie... Town could be winning the Premier Legue next season... then look out Barcelona and Real Madrid.... here come Town.... again.
